"Pamunkey"
St. Thomas’s Episcopal Church was built in 1833-34, and copied after Jefferson’s only known ecclesiastical work. Several Tiffany stained-glass windows grace this historic church. The "Madison Silver," a silver chalice and paten crafted by Fuller White of London in 1766-67 and engraved with the parish name, was given by Frances Taylor Madison, the grandmother of President James Madison. General Robert E. Lee attended St. Thomas’s regularly, and a plaque has been placed on the pew where he sat for worship.
