"Barboursville Vineyard"
The wines of Barboursville Vineyards are so consistently honored in competitions and demanded by wine stewards, as they are -- that Palladio Restaurant is so respected by food enthusiasts of every generation and critical perspective, extending to the James Beard House in Manhattan -- that there is no more than one place on earth, where the only house within sight of your bedroom is a historic landmark designed by Thomas Jefferson -- this only begins to explain Barboursville Vineyards.

The Courthouse building is a historic landmark in the town of Orange.
Constructed in 1859 and designed by Charles Haskins of Washington, D.C., the Italianate-style courthouse is characterized by its centrally located, three-stage tower with overhanging eaves. It is the town’s third courthouse, the first having been completed in 1749 and the second courthouse, built 1802-04. Those two earlier courthouses were located on the public lot, partially occupied by the Orange Train Station. In August 1862, a brisk skirmish between three Union Cavalry regiments and the Confederate 7th Virginia Calvary erupted in front of the Courthouse.

"Barboursville Ruins"
Governor Barbour’s mansion, now preserved as a historic landmark after a Christmas Day fire in 1884, was designed by Thomas Jefferson to be the grandest residence in Orange County. With brick walls laid in Flemish bond, Palladian porticoes on two sides and a splendid central octagonal parlor, the Barbour mansion was the seat of a thriving agriculture estate of early Virginia. Barbour was Virginia’s first Governor (1812-1814), U.S. Senator, Secretary of War, Ambassador to Great Britain, and President of the Albemarle Agricultural Society as his neighbor James Madison had been before him. He is buried with members of his family on the estate in a simple gravesite, now preserved by Barboursville Vineyards.

"Gilmore Cabin"
The Gilmore Cabin is a post-Civil War African-American’s house on the Montpelier property. Former Madison slave George Gilmore built this log cabin for his family in the early 1870s. President Madison’s nephew owned the land. George Gilmore was more than 90 years old when he purchased the house and 16 acres for $560, just before the death of Dr. James Ambrose Madison in 1901. The property offers a glimpse of what life was like for African-Americans in the years during the Reconstruction era. Museum educators will be on hand to demonstrate the techniques of 19th-century farm life. The Gilmore Cabin is located on the west side of Route 20. This beautifully restored Greek revival structure was built as a railroad hotel in 1860. During the war soldiers, supplies and the wounded were transported on these railroads to Gordonsville. The hotel became The Receiving Hospital, which provided care for 70,000 soldiers, Confederate and Union. During the reconstruction period, this hospital served newly freed slaves as a Freedman’s Bureau Hospital. The museum presents several re-enactments year round. "The 1804 Inn & The Vineyard Cottage at Barboursville Vineyards"
The 1804 Inn was opened, not invented. The silence of Flemish bond walls, the airiness of 11-foot ceilings, and the glow of hand-hewn floors are irreplaceable, and even more extraordinary, are its priceless antique furnishings and art from England, Italy, France and Virginia collected by the Zonin Family for more than a century. "Honey Hill Orchards"
Honey Hill Orchards, an Orange County landmark near Mine Run since 1977 is a modern farming operation based on supporting and living some simple traditional American values. Since we believe in living these values, we are a real working farm. We are not a make believe theme park, we do not have picnics and fairs, and we do not encourage tourists to come to “experience” an imitation of country living. We are too busy living the real values and making it possible for families to come out and experience those values for themselves. So, if you believe in these values, laid out below, as we do, come on out and pick ripe fruit from trees that the kids can easily reach, and take it home to enjoy fresh and preserve the surplus, as our relatives did in earlier time.

"Toyita Rivera Graphic Design & Fotography"
To me Photography is passion, it’s magic and I love it! I love the fact that a split second of life; a breath, a smile, a touch, a look, can last forever with just a click! My camera and I are best pals; we can not survive without each other. Together, we capture all these tiny moments in the lives of family and friends, to make everlasting memories, and that feeling is my greatest reward. My name is Toyita Rivera, I am a former journalist from beautiful Bogotá, Colombia. After traveling the world for over 10 years, in 2004 my husband, my two daughters and I came to Virginia where we settle down and started creating our own tomorrows’ memories. Photography, along with the wonderful world of Graphic Design are my favorite occupations. With the two of them it is easy to create a beautiful visual communication, a kind of language that is universal, because everyone from everywhere can understand it; a form of art that is attached to the heart.
